Premium Allocations
Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium funding was introduced in April 2011. Since then, the amount schools receive has increased. Individual schools are allocated funding for children from low-income families who were eligible for free school meals, looked after children and those from families with parents in the Armed Forces. The funding is used to:
- raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
support children and young people in school.
Funding for 2023 – 2024:
- £1,455 for each eligible primary aged pupil.
- £2,530 for each Looked After or Previously Looked After Child.
- £335 for each Service Child.
The Department for Education has clear expectations about how the Pupil Premium Funding may be spent for the educational benefit of pupils.

Recovery Premium
For 2020-21 the government have given school extra funding to help combat the gap in learning children have had due to the closure of schools from the coronavirus pandemic. Catch-up Premium is being allocated to all state-funded mainstream and special schools, and alternative provision. This funding is for 2020-21 only and will equate to £80 for each pupil in reception through to year 6.
The funding will be used for specific activities to support pupils to catch up for lost teaching.
School leaders will be accountable for how the funding is used for getting children back on track and teaching a normal curriculum.

Sports Premium
The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
At Yohden Primary School, we strive to promote healthy and active lifestyles and aim to provide sporting opportunities for all our pupils. We value PE with high importance and the Sport Premium is helping us to achieve the following:
