Yohden Primary School is committed to improving our school environment and that around our school.
This year we have been litter picking and involved in a local campaign to encourage dog owners to clean up after their dogs.
The planting has already begun, with children joining Mrs Roberts at dinner times to plant bulbs, ready for the spring.
Awards Dinner
Mrs Smith and Miss Payne attended an awards dinner in the Autumn term and were thrilled to receive an award for the ongoing improvements to our school grounds. The awarding body came into school to present a cheque to accompany the award to contribute to ongoing environmental work.
BOC Environmental Award for Primary Schools
We recently entered the BOC Environmental Award for Primary Schools with a plan to enhance the school grounds with the development of an enchanted woodland and story teller chair to link with Literacy. The children planned and designed the whole project during privilege time and their work was submitted along with the application form. Unfortunately this year we did not win the top prize but were Highly Commended for our entry.
