General information for Parents and Carers
Year 1 take part in PE lessons every Monday and Thursday. All children are required to bring in a full, clean PE kit. This comprises of: A white T-shirt, blue shorts and black PE shoes. Children with longer hair should have this tied back, and all jewellery should be removed in the interests of safety. If there is any reason why the child is unable to take part in the lesson, the class teacher should be informed as soon as possible, preferably in writing.
Reading books should be brought to school every day, along with the children’s reading records. Children should read with an adult every night at home, as part of their daily routine, and their reading records should be filled in with positive comments. This is also a place for parents to communicate with the class teacher regarding the progress of their child’s reading.
Home learning will be given out on a Friday and due back the following Wednesday. This will usually consist of a piece of English and a piece of Maths work to complete. Spellings are also given out on a Tuesday linked to the work in phonics. The children will be tested the following Monday.
