Transitions to school life are well-planned and managed to ensure that all children’s needs are catered for, as they take this important setup in their lives.
EYFS practitioners visit the children in their nursery and talk to staff about individual children’s interests, needs and strengths. Home visits are also made, to help support children’s transition and to answer any questions that parents/carers might have about school.
Children have 2 visits to school during the month of July, to allow them to become familiar with Staff, the classroom and routines. Children and parents/carers are invited to enjoy a school lunch on their second visit.
Children in our EYFS/Reception class enjoy the benefits of a large teaching and learning environment and a designated outdoor classroom. The children also enjoy P.E. lessons outdoors and in the school Hall.
Our reception children soon develop confidence and a sense of being part of whole school life. When it is appropriate, they join in with whole school assemblies and events.
