International Learning at Yohden Primary School
At Yohden Primary School we follow the International Primary Curriculum. This means that lessons and topics are planned, which allow our children to develop an awareness of themselves as Global Citizens. We are able to make links with other schools across the World, who are studying the same topics.
This means that we can share and compare our experiences and investigations and provide our children with a window to the World. In addition, we are working towards the International School Award, which recognises the work we are doing in broadening children’s horizons. Activities we have planned for this academic year include the following:
- Christmas Jumper Day where we raise funds for Save The Children
- Visit to Newcastle’s China Town and a buffet, to find out more about Chinese New Year
- International singing assembly
- Making links with other schools abroad
- International food day
- International dance festival
International Events at Yohden Primary School
At Yohden Primary School, we follow the International Primary Curriculum. To support our children’s global awareness, we have planned a series of international events across the academic year.
These events include a series of school meals which are themed and based around another country and culture. The children have already enjoyed a Chinese school meal, during Chinese New Year and on Thursday 3rd of April the children enjoyed a school meal which celebrated the food and culture of India.
We are planning further international events, which will be posted on the website soon.
International Events – Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child was another success!
The School Council and the RRSA steering group set out with a view to create and send 14 boxes, two from each class, to needy children around the world.
However thanks to your kindness and wonderful Christmas spirit, we were able to send 32 boxes, an overwhelming response, giving the gift of Christmas to 32 children!
Thank you for your generosity!
